A 35-year-old man was taken into custody by the Buffalo Police SWAT Team after shots were fired in the first block of Keystone Street just before 2 p.m. Saturday. The man had barricaded himself inside a downstairs flat and was apparently firing shots to the outside through a window with a shotgun, said Michael J. DeGeorge, spokesman for the police department.  Police were able to safely remove about a half dozen people from an apartment on the upper floor without incident.

At about 3:30 p.m. after the police Crisis Management Team arrived at the scene and the man surrendered without incident. The man was taken to Erie County Medical Center Saturday afternoon to be evaluated and he remained there in police custody Saturday evening.

DeGeorge said no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire and police are considering charges to be lodged against the suspect.
