Babies & Bumps, a convention designed to prepare new and soon-to-be parents for all aspects of having and raising a baby, will host its second annual Buffalo event next Saturday at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
The event – which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2 Fountain Plaza – will bring together nearly 60 organizations that cater to pregnant women, new parents and their babies.
Those who attend can participate in up to 12 expert-led seminars that focus on topics related to pregnancy, labor and delivery, newborns and infants, as well as the transition to motherhood. Seven demonstrations will teach a variety of skills, including comforting measures during labor, and baby sign language. There will also be baby and bump photos, shopping for handmade products in a Mom & Baby Market, a raffle to benefit the Western New York Perinatal Bereavement Network and more.
“I’m thrilled to return to Buffalo for the second Babies & Bumps event of this season,” event founder and organizer Monica Infante said in a news release. “The area’s strong network of local resources that cater to growing families continue to welcome us with open arms, which makes for another empowering lineup of exhibitors and programming for new and soon-to-be parents.”
Organizations that will be on hand include the Birthing Center of Buffalo, Happy Tummies, Doodle Bugs! Children’s Learning Academies, the Buffalo Doula Collective, The Care Connection, Gentle Parenting of WNY, Baby’s Sweet Beginnings Breastfeeding & Maternity Boutique, and MooreKidsSmile Pediatric Dentistry.
Tickets are $25 for individuals, $40 for pairs, and $15 per person for groups of six or more. Attendees must pre-register online at babies-and-bumps.com. Participants will be able to download an event app through the website to plan a schedule in advance based on seminars, demonstrations and activities of most interest. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $30. Check-in opens at 9 a.m.; complimentary valet parking will be available.
All attendees will receive a gift bag with products from well-known manufacturers, along with information and special offers from local organizations.
Babies & Bumps is an inclusive event – in addition to moms and moms-to-be, dads, dads-to-be, partners, extended family members and friends also are welcome to attend.
A new membership-based 2017 Birth Year Group also will launch during Babies & Bumps event season. The social and support group will include in-person new/first baby gatherings and informational sessions, plus the ability to connect online via an app to share links, announcements and comments on a regular basis. Members will also receive exclusive discounts from partners of Babies & Bumps.
Infante, of Rochester, started her own new and first-time moms’ group following the birth of her first child in 2012. Rochester celebrated its fifth annual Babies & Bumps event earlier this month. It also will host events in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Columbus Ohio in the coming weeks.
