Starter pistol used to scare off geese in Amherst

Amherst Police responded Friday morning to a call of shots fired in the Main Street business district, but officers discovered that a starter pistol had been used to scare away Canadian geese, according to police reports.

The 7:20 a.m. call was to the 5600 block of Main Street . Officers were told at the scene that geese had been congregating near a dam in Ellicott Creek, behind the businesses.
