The latest Independent Health and Buffalo Bills Health & Wellness Challenge will for the first time include a walking component when it gets under way on Monday.
“We’re pushing fitness and all these gyms are popping up all over the place, and there’s these crazy, intense workouts that are beyond the reach of most people,” said Dr. Michael Cropp, president and CEO of Independent Health. “If we could just get people to walk regularly, we would improve substantially the health of the community.”
The sixth installment of the challenge looks to emphasize that point as it continues to stress three daily goals:
– Get 20 minutes of physical activity.
– Eat five servings of fruits and vegetables
– Drink eight glasses of water.
The challenge also will include a step challenge. Sync a compatible fitness tracker and every time you walk 5,000 steps you’ll earn an entry into a weekly drawing to win a Bills training camp experience or $100 gift card.
A free Monday night boot camp class at New Era Field also will be offered to participants during the challenge, which runs from April 24 to June 4.
Five prizes will be awarded weekly and one grand prize winner will win a trip for two to see the Bills play the Miami Dolphins later this year in South Florida.
