The All-New York State basketball teams for 2016-17 have been announced, and some of Western New York's top players received high marks.

In Class A, Dom Welch of Cheektowaga was a first-team selection. Welch was named the Allen Wilson Player of the Year as Western New York's best boys performer. He broke the career scoring record for Section VI, averaging more than 30 points per game last season.

Other local players joined Welch as first-teamers. Davonte Gaines of Health Science was picked in Class B, Willard Anderson of East and Devin Pope of Chautauqua Lake were selected in Class C, and Elliot Bowen of Ellicottvile was the choice in Class D.

Second-team choices included: Greg Dolan of Williamsville South (Class A), Nate Luckman of Barker (Class C), and Sam Erickson of Franklinville (Class D).
