Fire causes $300,000 in damage to Pearl Street taco restaurant

A fire Tuesday morning at La Delicias Taqueria on Pearl Street caused an estimated $300,000 in damage to the building, which included apartments, according to the Buffalo Fire Department.

The fire at 454 Pearl St., between West Tupper and Chippewa streets, started in the first-floor restaurant and extended to the second floor, firefighters reported over the Buffalo Fire Department radio frequency.

The blaze was reported at about 7:26 a.m. and "under control" at 8:16 a.m. The cause is under investigation.

The building next door, at 452 Pearl, sustained about $80,000 in water and smoke damage, the fire department said. The eatery opened Feb. 23 in the space formerly occupied by Cuba Rosa.
