Buffalo ought to relocate historic E.B. Green house
Regarding the E.B. Green house at 980 Ellicott St. and its proposed demolition: Why doesn’t the city just move it? The construction of the Medical Campus is costing millions of dollars. Why not spend a few thousand more to move and preserve another piece of Buffalo’s history? The City of Buffalo has enough vacant land to donate a parcel for a new resting place.
The city has approved a number of unfortunate demolitions, including the Bachelor Apartments, the Broderick Inn, the Harbor Inn and the still lamented loss of the Larkin Administration Building. Destroying our city’s historical and architectural legacy is not a wise path. I fully support the Preservation Board’s efforts to save this structure.
