What to watch for Monday

1. Softball - Alden at Depew, 5 p.m.

Alden (2-0, 0-0) and Depew (1-0, 1-0), two teams that figure to be front-runners in ECIC III and Class B-1, square off for the first time this season in Monday's top game.

The Wildcats topped Alden in the B-1 final last year, 1-0, and went on to win the Overall B title against Eden. Andrea Taboni went 4-7 at the plate and scored five runs in Depew's lone game, a 16-0 win over Pioneer.

The Bulldogs have nonleague wins over Tonawanda and Newfane. Brooke Strausbaugh threw a complete game three-hitter with 13 Ks in a 12-2 win over Newfane on Friday, while Jenna Wlostowski had three RBIs and Maddy Gadd scored two runs. Strausbaugh also had 10 Ks in a 6-0 shutout of Tonawanda on April 3.

2. Baseball - Eden at Tonawanda, 5 p.m.

Eden (1-0) visits Tonawanda (2-1) in the first ECIC IV game of the season for both squads

The Warriors lost their season opener to Wilson but beat Kenmore West, 5-3, and Kenmore East, 13-12, on back-to-back days last week. Austin Schroeder threw 6.1 innings with 7 Ks and Noah Mouton went 2-2 with a double and two RBIs against West on Thursday. Mouton drove in Tyler Buczkowski for game-winning run on Friday against East. Mouton finished 3-3 with three runs, while Buczkowski had a triple and 2 RBIs.

The Raiders have a 14-6 win over Alden from two weeks ago. Sawyer Overhoff had three doubles and three RBIs in the winning effort.

3. Girls lacrosse - Mount St. Mary at St. Mary's of Lancaster, 4:30 p.m.

St. Mary's (0-1) hosts Mount St. Mary (0-1) at Westwood Park in a Monsignor Martin Association contest. The Lancers lost to Niagara Falls, 17-12, back on March 30. The Thunder lost a 7-3 game to East Aurora on March 31.
