Man charged with assault, child endangerment in Kenfield confrontation

A Hazelwood Avenue man faces charges including child endangerment, assault and robbery following a violent confrontation with a woman outside her home in the 100 block of Easton Avenue early Sunday.

Corvante Jones, 23, is charged with felony counts of second-degree robbery, second- and third-degree criminal mischief and misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, third-degree assault and child endangerment.

Jones, who was arrested about 5:45 a.m., is accused of  punching the woman in the face, taking her 2-year-old child, stealing her cellphone and car keys and punching a hole in the windshield of her vehicle.

When police arrived on Easton, off Bailey Avenue in the Kenfield neighborhood, Jones started walking away but was stopped by officers, who took the child  from him, police said.
