Morning Pitch: Thruway Cup continues with Rochester at Buffalo

The Buffalo Bisons look to bounce back from their first loss of the season when they host the Rochester Red Wings Wednesday afternoon.  Here's your nitty-gritty for the game:

Today's game: 1:05 p.m. Gates open at noon.

Weather: is calling for cloudy conditins in the morning followed by partly cloudy skies and gusty winds during the afternoon. High 46. Winds WSW at 20 to 30 mph.

Promotion: Anderson's Kids' Week. Kids' tickets are $9 and the first 500 fans through the Swan Street Gate will receive free ice cream.

Yesterday's game: The Red Wings took a no-hitter into the eighth as they blanked the Herd, 5-0. The season series is tied, 1-1.

Today's starters: The Bisons are scheduled to give righty Mike Bolsinger his first start of the season while Rochester will counter with lefty David Hurlbut.

Prospect Watch: Bisons' first baseman Rowdy Tellez is the fifth-ranked prospect in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Releiver Danny Barnes is 21st and outfielder Dwight Smith, Jr., is 26th.

For Rochester, reliever J.T. Chargois is the 11th ranked prospect in the Minnesota Twins organization. Outfielder Daniel Palka is 14th, catcher Mitch Farver 15th and reliever Trevor Hildenberger 19th.

Old friends: Matt Hague, who won International League MVP honors and the IL batting title while with the Bisons in 2015 is playing for Rochester.

The homestand: Rochester and the Bisons meet in Coca-Cola Field through Thursday with games at 1:05 on Wednesday and Thursday. Then Buffalo heads to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for a weekend series before returning home on Tuesday, April 18.
