The Erie County Sheriff's Office's Easter Mounted for Meals food and fund drive will be held at the Broadway Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
Over the past sixteen years, members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Reserve Unit have collected food and money for the Food Bank of WNY. Horses wand riders will be on hand at the Broadway Market for the collection of perishable and non-perishable food items and money donations for the “Loot in the Boot.” The donations will help feed local families, including those served by Sister Mary Johnice Rzadkiewicz’s Response to Love Center, at 130 Kosciuszko St.
Typically, the drive collects 1,000 pounds of food and $1,000 for the Food Bank. Since its inception, the Mounted for Meals campaign has collected nearly eight tons of food pounds of food and $15,000.
Items most in need include frozen turkeys or hams, canned vegetables, canned soups, tomato sauce, pasta, bags or boxes of rice, tuna, peanut butter, diapers and infant formula.
The public is welcome to take pictures with the Mounted Division and free deputy stickers will be handed out.
