A North Tonawanda man was arrested on charges of drunk driving Monday after police received several cell phone calls from witnesses that he was driving recklessly, authorities said.
Joseph G. Masich, 69, of Erie Avenue, was charged by City of Tonawanda police with driving while intoxicated, driving with unsafe tires and driving without insurance after police stopped him about 11:30 a.m. on Fletcher Street near Tonawanda High School, where they observed Masich's vehicle weaving and striking the curb, according to City of Tonawanda police.
When he was pulled over, police observed that Masich's vehicle had front end damage and a front flat tire, police said.
Masich admitted to officers that he was driving from a casino and was drinking beer, police said.
He refused to take a breathalyzer test and was held for a court hearing, police said.
