Starting pitchers: The Bisons will start T.J. House, 26, who went 5-3 with a 3.98 ERA with Columbus last season. Big Jason Wheeler, 6-6 and 255, starts for Rochester. He was 11-6, 3.53 for Rochester last season.
Sunday's results: Buffalo swept Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 4-3 and 9-6. Buffalo improved to 3-0.
Hague with Wings: Matt Hague, who won the International League MVP award with Buffalo in 2015, is Rochester’s first baseman. Hague, 31, hit .338 for the Bisons with 92 RBIs two years ago. He spent last season in Japan.
Bisons Prospects: The top Jays prospect on the Bisons’ roster is Rowdy Tellez, ranked No. 6 by Baseball America. Five of Toronto’s top 10 prospects are on the Double-A roster. There’s a good chance some of them will get up to Buffalo this season. Those Double-A prospects are: Outfielder Anthony Alford (No. 2), pitcher Sean Reid-Foley (No. 3), Pitcher Connor Greene (No. 4), shortstop Richard Urena (No. 5), and pitcher Jon Harris (No. 9). . . . Other Herd prospects include reliever Danny Barnes (No. 21 by MLB.com) and outfielder Dwight Smith Jr. (No. 26).
Twins Prospects: Like Toronto, most of Minnesota’s top prospects are at the lower levels. The Twins have one top-10 prospect in Rochester. He’s reliever J.T. Chargios, rated No. 7 by MLB.com. Pitcher Jake Reed, currently on the DL, is rated No. 13. Right-fielder Daniel Palka is No. 18. Centerfielder Zach Granite was the Twins’ minor league player of the year in 2016 after starting in Double-A.
Injury updates: Outfielder Dalton Pompey is out with a concussion, suffered while sliding into second base in the World Baseball Classic on March 17. Second baseman Jon Berti also is out with a concussion.
WCC Race: Chicken Wing won the mascot race between Sunday's games. Atomic won the home opener.
The homestand: The Bisons are home through Thursday against Rochester, with each of the four games starting at 1:05 p.m.
