Victim seriously wounded in overnight shooting near Buffalo-Cheektowaga border

A person was seriously injured in an overnight shooting in Buffalo near the Cheektowaga border, police said.

The victim, identified only as male, was shot on the 100 block of Wilkes Avenue, a Buffalo police spokesman said in an email.

Police were called to the scene at 3:45 a.m., the spokesman said.

The victim was taken to Erie County Medical Center with "injuries that appear serious," he said.
