Work has begun on Plum Bottom Creek in the Village of Lancaster to stabilize a deteriorating south bank.
The creek is located on Central Avenue between Pleasant Avenue and Broadway, said Daniel Amatura, the Town of Lancaster highway superintendent.
"The bank on the south side was weak and caused the washout of the embankment that abuts a building at 43 Central," said Amatura. "Before it reaches a flood stage it needs to be addressed."
In 2016, an engineer was hired to assess the situation, Amatura said.
The estimated cost of the stabilization project is $90,000.
