Kenmore woman jumps in front of train at University Station

A Kenmore woman who jumped onto the tracks as a train was arriving at the University Metro Rail Station suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority.

The unidentified woman, who is 26 years old, was not run over by the approaching train at about 4:10 p.m. At least one witness and Metro video confirmed she jumped onto the tracks voluntarily, NFTA spokesman C. Douglas Hartmayer said.

She was treated at the scene by Buffalo firefighters and taken to ECMC by ambulance. Hartmayer said there is no suspicion of foul play and transit police continue to investigate.
