West Herr Jaguar plans to expand its showroom and make additional improvements to the parking, lighting and landscaping at its Getzville dealership, according to documents filed with the Amherst Planning Department.
The dealership plans to add 2,020 square feet of showroom space on the north and east sides of its 38,460-square-foot building at 10 Campbell Blvd., off Millersport Highway. The showroom itself will be about 40 percent larger under the proposed expansion.
In addition, West Herr is adding a new canopy at the service entrance, replacing existing lightheads on the grounds with LED fixtures and putting up a new sign for the dealership.
Also, West Herr is constructing new parking spaces made from permeable pavement. A realignment prompted by the showroom expansion will leave the dealership with 266 spaces, down 19 from the current configuration.
West Herr Jaguar opened in 1995 and is part of the West Herr Automotive Group. The dealership sold 121 new Jaguars in 2016, and 36 more in the first two months of 2017, according to the Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association.
John Wabick, a West Herr vice president, said the group is making the improvements to bring the dealership up to the automaker's new Jaguar Facility Image standard.
The plans filed with the town don't reveal how much the project is expected to cost, and Wabick said West Herr won't know for sure until it puts the work out to bid.
The roughly 3-acre property already is zoned correctly for the work. The site plan application for the project is on the agenda for the Amherst Planning Board's April 20 meeting.
West Herr plans to begin construction in early 2018, as long as it receives the necessary approvals, and expects to complete the work by early 2019, Wabick said.
