New beer releases: NYBP, Big Ditch, Flying Bison, Pearl Street

NYBP: Tax Beer

New York Beer Project (6933 S. Transit Road, Lockport.) is releasing a new pale ale in honor of tax season, The Tax Man Cometh, CPA (Certified Pale Ale). The beer was brewed with Comet, Pacifica, and Azacca hop varieties. Call 743-6927.

Big Ditch: Squeezer

Big Ditch Brewing Company (55 E. Huron St.) is re-releasing its spring seasonal beer Squeezer (4.4 percent ABV) on April 6. This year, the dry-hopped sour Kolsch-style ale is using Hallertau Blanc hops (instead of the Nelson Sauvin hops used in 2016), resulting in an interesting white grape and citrus flavor and aroma, with just enough tart sourness to quench any thirst. Call 854-5050.

Flying Bison: Polonia Pils

Flying Bison Brewing Company (840 Seneca St.) is releasing its Polonia Pils on April 7, in time for Easter and (most importantly) Dyngus Day. This 4.8 percent ABV pilsner has crisp malt flavor accented by floral and spicy Hallertau and Saaz hops varieties, resulting in a refreshing dry finish. Polonia Pils will be at Flying Bison’s tap room for the release, but look for it soon in bottles and on draft in other beer establishments. Call 873-1557.

Pearl Street: Czech Pilsner

Pearl Street Grill & Brewery (76 Pearl St.) has just released its new Czech Pilsner - a light, crisp, gently hoppy lager beer at 5.4 percent ABV. The beer was originally brewed to put on tap for head brewer Chris Herr’s wedding, and it has returned to the brewery for general consumption. Call 856-2337.
