In 1969, Lockport's Kenan Center opened a 153-seat theater in a carriage house on the institution's property. It hosted dozens of productions from the NOW Theatre Company, as well as community produced plays, musicals and children's productions, but its use as a theater space has only been sporadic since the early 2000s.
Now, the Kenan Center is relaunching the space as the home for a newly formed community theater company called the Carriage House Players. The company's first show, a staged reading of A.R. Gurney's popular epistolary play "Love Letters," runs from April 21 to 23.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on April 21 and 22 and 3 p.m. April 34. Tickets are $15 to $20. Call 433-2617 or visit kenancenter.org.
