Norma W. Roscover, leader in Church Women United, dies at 95

Oct. 8, 1921 – March 26, 2017

Norma W. Roscover, of Kenmore, a retired nursing home administrator, died March 26 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. She was 95.

Born Norma Wright in Buffalo, she attended School 61 and was a graduate of Bennett High School.

Her husband of 60 years, Raymond A., a retired Buffalo teacher, died in 2003.

Mrs. Roscover first worked as a shopping service representative for Hengerer’s department store, then became administrator for the Lutheran Church Home and administrative assistant for the Presbyterian Homes of Western New York. She later worked for the Council of Churches of Buffalo and Erie County.

A member of Central Presbyterian Church for 72 years, she had roles as an elder and teacher of Sunday school. She was also active in the Women’s Association.

Mrs. Roscover co-founded the local chapter of Church Women United, where she held positions of president and administrative secretary. She was involved with Areme Chapter 722, Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Kenmore Presbyterian Church, 2771 Delaware Ave.
