Alex Nylander is not playing for the Sabres' minor-league team Sunday. That's because he's expected to play for the big club Monday.
The Sabres will recall Nylander from Rochester, a source tells The Buffalo News, and he will likely make his NHL debut Monday when the Toronto Maple Leafs visit KeyBank Center. It would set up a meeting with his brother, Leafs young star William Nylander.
Alex Nylander, the Sabres' No. 8 overall pick in last June's NHL Draft, has nine goals, 18 assists and 27 points in 62 games with the Amerks.
