Drugs, paraphernalia found in rental car that had been stolen

NIAGARA FALLS - Niagara Falls police said they recovered drugs from a stolen rental car that had been the target of a police chase.

Police discovered the  2016 Toyota Camry double-parked in the 2900 block of Pierce Avenue about 1:40 a.m., shortly  after they  observed the vehicle run a stop sign. In the vehicle, officers found a cellphone and several Suboxone. Police arranged to have the car towed away after they were unable to locate the driver.

Police also  discovered a digital scale with white powder on it,  a small  bag containing a suspected drug and a prescription pill bottle with 80 pills.  Officers also said they recovered identification for two men.

The car, police said,  was leased to a Michigan Avenue man who reported it stolen from the Jordan Gardens area, police said.

An investigation is underway.
