Cheektowaga officials deliver for Meals on Wheels

Deputy Supervisor Tim Meyers, Director of Senior Services Kerry Peek and Cheektowaga Senior Center manager Ruth Diebold joined more than a dozen volunteers recently to deliver meals during Meals on Wheels week-long event “Champion for Meals.”

The event that ran March 21 to March March 24 provided government officials and local celebrities an opportunity to share in the meal delivery experience.

"This was a wonderful experience for me, as I was able to see first-hand the wonderful job and dedication of our many town residents who volunteer their time to help those in need,” said Meyers.

Meals on Wheels of WNY operates out of three locations in Cheektowaga: the Senior Center, 3349 Broadway; Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1025 Borden Road, Depew; and Maryvale Presbyterian Church, 425 Maryvale Drive.

The locations serve a hot and cold meal Monday through Friday during the lunch hour to nearly 400 individuals in Cheektowaga.

For more information on how to receive meals from Meals on Wheels, call 822-2002 or visit mealsonwheelswny.org. Volunteers for all locations are needed. For more information, call the Senior Center at 686-3930.
