Two arrested for producing meth in Westfield

WESTFIELD – Two Chautauqua County residents were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine Tuesday, following a police raid at a South Portage Street residence, authorities said.

John J. Buzcek III, 48, and Julie A. Warren, 47, were taken into police custody after authorities seized scales and other items used in making methamphetamine from an apartment at 63 South Portage St. in the village at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to authorities.

Buzcek was charged with two counts of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, and also charged on an outstanding warrant, authorities said.

Warren was charged with one count of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, according to authorities. Police located Warren at another location in the village and took her into custody.

Buzcek and Warren were remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 property bond each.

Earlier this month, village police and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force launched an investigation into operations inside the apartment, based on citizen complaints.

Authorities are asking community members who observe suspicious or narcotics related activity in their neighborhoods to call either 800-344-8702 or 363-0313.
