SPENCER, Richard "Dick"

SPENCER - Richard "Dick" Age 87, of the City of Tonawanda, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017; born in Duke Center, PA, Richard was the third son of parents Charles and Fola (nee Cook) Spencer. Richard was employed at Spaulding Fibre where he worked his way up through the ranks to become the only Paper Mill Superintendent ever employed there. He was proud of his knowledge of all the paper that was produced during that time. He retired after 40 years of service. In his forties, Richard enjoyed running. He ran two marathons as well as many other races. He loved the family camp, summers swimming in the pool, vacations to Florida and spending time with his family. Survived by his dear wife Marilyn; two beloved daughters, Linda (Rich) Cruse and Jaci (Gary) Franc; and his son Robert (Jackie) Spencer; loving Grandpa of Matthew Renninger, Derek Franc, Ashley (Patrick) Kiely, Steven Spencer and the late Aimee Franc and Robert Spencer Jr.; brother of Kenneth (Violet) Spencer, Connie (Earl) Leake, and the late Charles (Arlene) and Bernard Spencer; brother-in-law of the late Helen and Mary; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday (March 27) from 4-7 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda, where funeral services will be conducted Monday at 7 PM following the visitation. Friends invited. A private burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 65 Main St., North Tonawanda, NY 14120 or to the charity of your choice.
