Labor activist Bill Fletcher Jr. will speak at the annual meeting of the Western New York Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO, at 9 a.m. Saturday at the UAW Region 9 hall in Amherst. Fletcher will focus his remarks on the Trump administration's impact on labor issues and democracy.
"We brought him in because we think he is one of the leading voices on these questions," said Richard Lipsitz Jr., the federation's president. About 175 people are expected to attend.
The federation is an umbrella group that covers unions with about 135,000 dues-paying members, stretching as far east as Batavia and as far south as Jamestown.
