Roswell launches Cancer Talk podcast

Interested in the latest on cancer research, screening and treatment options?

Roswell Park Cancer Institute wants you to tune into a series of new podcasts featuring talks from experts about research, treatment, survivorship and prevention.

The podcasts available on Roswell Park's website are geared toward to patients and their families. Content is shared from the institute's experts dealing with everything from treatment, coping tips, research, screening and prevention options.

Roswell President and Chief Executive Officer Candace Johnson kicked off the initial one.

"Roswell Park is known for being at the cutting edge of cancer research and treatment. Using digital technologies such as podcasts to communicate advances in cancer is an excellent way to assist people with reliable, timely and accurate information on a variety of cancer topics," Johnson said. "We believe these podcasts will become a vital channel for cancer information."

Some of the first episodes describe what to expect when getting a mammogram and how palliative care can improve quality of life while undergoing cancer treatment. New interviews with Roswell Park experts will be featured weekly on the on-demand episodes.

So far, the new lineup of podcasts includes Dr. Ermelinda Bonaccio talking about mammograms, Dr. Amy Allen Case talking about the role of palliative medicine in cancer care and Dr. Edward Spangenthal about the cardiologist's role in cancer treatment.

The Roswell podcasts are also available in iTunes and iHeartRadio.

"We want to make our experts accessible. By sharing their knowledge in an audio format, our audiences can listen wherever they are - on their drive home, in the office or on their daily walk," said Laurel DiBrog, Roswell's chief marketing and communications officer.

Roswell is partnering with Radio MD podcast service to offer the installments.
