Though spring arrived today at 6:28 a.m., it won’t seem much different from winter.

Forecasters say today will be dreary, with cloudy skies and a high of about 40. After a few rain and snow showers overnight, Tuesday should see a bit of improvement, with sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures, but it won’t last.

The thermometer is due to drop down through the 20s Tuesday night as arctic air moves in. The unseasonable cold will stick around Wednesday under clear skies, with lows dipping into the teens Wednesday night.

A welcome warm-up is expected to begin Thursday. The outlook calls for sunshine at first and a springlike advance to the weekend. Highs of 50 or better are predicted for Friday, but there’s also a strong likelihood of wind and rain.
