Motorist charged with DWI after driving onto sidewalk during stop

A Town of Tonawanda man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after City of Tonawanda police said he ran a red light and drove onto the sidewalk while being stopped.

Glen A. Shoupp, 52, of Lardner Court allegedly passed a red light at the intersection of Broad and Seymour streets and was observed by Officer Erik Johanson around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the city.

Shoupp told the officer that he had "been drinking Molsons for the last seven hours," according to the report. He was found to have a blood alcohol level of .20 percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent. Shoupp was also charged with possession of marijuana after police reported finding a baggie of the drug in his pocket.

He was charged and held on $250 bail, police reported.
