SCAFFIDI, Charles "Chuck"

SCAFFIDI - Charles "Chuck" of N. Redington Beach, FL, died March 13, 2017. Chuck was 85 years young when he left us too soon. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was a smart, hard-
working and adventurous young man. He joined the Air Force and was proud to be stationed with the 347th Strategic Recon Squadron, a B-36 group. At the University of Buffalo he earned an Electrical Engineering Degree which he used build his career with NASA, at the Goddard Space Center in Maryland, eventually becoming a manager of the Hubble Space Telescope project. Finally, he retired and became a Master Gardener working to develop the Florida Botanical Gardens in
Pinellas County, FL and establishing the annual Holiday Lights show. He loved sharing his knowledge about NASA with many classes in Pinellas County schools, and enjoyed working with the local 4-H organization. Married to Joan for 60 years, they had four beautiful children, and nine wonderful grandchildren. He lived, laughed and was a quiet man who loved his family and friends. Next time you see a streak in the night sky, that's Chuck checking out the stars. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Special Olympics in Charles' name, www.specialolympics.org/partners.
