The St. Francis High School baseball field dedication ceremony to honor the late Jeff Sgroi slated for Saturday will now take place in the Gacioch Family Athletic Center at noon.
The ceremony to name the school's baseball facility Jeff Sgroi Memoria Field, which originally was to take place at the field before being moved indoors, is open to the public. An invitation only reception, however, follows.
Sgroi passed away from complications from cancer more than a year ago. He served as an assistant coach for the Red Raiders baseball team for nine years.
He was known throughout the area for his willingness to give to others. The former CFO/partner of Sgroi Financial in West Seneca left behind funding to the school to help transform its field into a top-notch scholastic baseball facility.
Sgroi also was involved with several charties, including Brian Moorman's PUNT Foundation. He also was on the board of the Orchard Park Boys and Girls Club and First Tee of WNY.
