LOCKPORT - A funding offer for energy-related building improvements for properties in the City of Lockport - except single-family homes - has been approved by the Common Council.

The state-funded Property Assessed Clean Energy program will allow property owners to apply for low-interest state loans for energy-efficiency upgrades to their properties.

The loan repayments would be made through the city, via a line added to the annual property tax bill. If the recipient defaults on the loan, the city could place a lien on the property and eventually foreclose upon it, Corporation Counsel John J. Ottaviano said.
