Firefighters battle blaze in vacant East Side home

A fire early Friday morning at a vacant home on Hirschbeck Street caused an estimated $70,000 in damage and damaged an adjacent home.

Buffalo firefighters were called to a blaze at 38 Hirschbeck at about 4 a.m. Hirschbeck runs off Broadway, west of Bailey Avenue. The house was fully involved when firefighters arrived.

Crews were still on the scene as of 6:30 a.m.

An estimated $10,000 in damage was sustained at 36 Hirschbeck, according to the Buffalo Fire Department. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
