City of Tonawanda incident results in multiple charges for driver

A North Tonawanda man was arrested on several charges Wednesday, following what City of Tonawanda police described as a road rage incident.

Douglas P. Everett, 40, of Warner Avenue, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, menacing, disorderly conduct and harassment after he pulled a 22-year motorist from his vehicle and began choking him, while stopped at a red light at Seymour and Fletcher streets, according to police.

Police said the incident started after 8:30 p.m. on River Road in North Tonawanda.

It ended in the City of Tonawanda, when Everett exited his vehicle and allegedly started fighting with the driver ahead of him at a traffic light, according to authorities.

City of Tonawanda police officer Mathew Wark, who was parked in the area at the time, witnessed the altercation and arrested Everett, who was held on $500 bail, authorities said.
