March 15 – Second Annual Tree Steward Training Class every Wednesday from 5:45 to 8 p.m. through April 12 at Parkside Lodge in Delaware Park. Call Sharon at 652-5400 Ext. 150 to get registered by March 15 so you can attend the first class.

March 15 – Close of walleye, northern pike, pickerel and tiger musky seasons (statewide, general regulations).

March 15 – Special fly tying event at the Orvis Eastern Hills Mall (4545 Transit Rd., Williamsville) with the Lake Erie Chapter of Fly Fishers International and the Council leaders of the Eastern Waters Council of Fly Fishers International. March 16 - The Lake Erie Chapter of the International Federation of Fly Fishers is holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 16 at the American Legion Post #735 on Legion Drive, West Seneca.  Fly Tying starts at 6:00 with business meeting starting at 7:00.  All are welcome. March 18 – Basics of Birding at DeVeaux Woods State Park, Niagara Falls from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Appropriate for families ages 8 and up. Call 282-5154 to register.

March 18 – Deersearch of WNY will be holding a blood tracking seminar at West Falls Conservation Society, 55 Bridge Street, West Falls starting at 4 p.m. This is open to the public. The paperwork for the leashed tracking dog test in April must be postmarked by March 17. Paperwork can be found on the DEC website at www.dec.ny.gov under the special license area. March 23-24 – DEC rainbow trout sampling for the Finger Lakes. Thursday at 9 a.m. at Naples Creek just north of the village of Naples at the Route 245 bridge; Friday at Cold Brook (Keuka Inlet) in Pleasant Valley at 10 a.m.

March 25 - US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3-2 is offering an 8-hour Boating & Jet Ski Safety class in the Community Room at the McKinley Mall.  The class begins at 8 a.m. sharp and ends at approximately 5 p.m.  Please note there is a new age-related state law for boaters that went into effect in 2015.  To receive more information about the new law, or to register for this class, contact Eileen Reiner at 725-9669 or at reiner7@verizon.net.    If this date does not work for you, visit us on the web at www.wnyboatsafe.org for a list of additional classes.

March 27 – St. Catharines Game and Fish Association monthly meeting at the Port DalhousieLegion, 57Lakeport Road, St. Catharines, Ontario starting at 7 p.m. Guest speakers will be Greg Amiel and Gavin Cameron talking about how they follow the salmon migration throughout the season.
