CONKLIN, Charles S.
CONKLIN - Charles S. Grand Island resident, died on February 14, 2017 after a brief illness, at Buffalo Suburban. He was an honorably discharged member of the US Air Force and continued to work in Germany following his service teaching on a military base until 1964. He then moved back to the WNY area and began his career as a Math Teacher and Business Manager at Buffalo Seminary from 1965 until 1993. He was very active at SEM as a driving instructor, softball coach in the 1970's, and he was also in the musicals. Charles loved to learn about everything he could but he was a particularly passionate gardener, an avid reader and bird watcher. He did community service his entire adult life through his volunteering with the Red Cross transporting blood donations; with AARP teaching driving classes for several years after retirement up until November 2016. Chuck also volunteered at the Library in Grand Island helping with events and assisting community members in filing their taxes. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Rita, and brother D. William Conklin.
