Grand Island Family Health Fair: 4 p.m., Grand Island High School, 1100 Ransom Road, Grand Island. Enjoy free healthy snacks, fun activities, information, massages and health screenings.

Holistic Lecture Series: “Homeopathy – An Introduction,” 7 p.m., Amherst Main Library at Audubon, 350 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst. Learn about natural, gluten-free, and vegetarian remedies for your body, mind and spirit. Register by calling 689-4922. Free.

Wellness Wednesday: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Central Library, 1 Lafayette Square. Cancer is preventable, treatable and beatable. Find out about free screenings, programs and services that are available in your community. Learn what is needed to qualify. Presented by the Cancer Services Program of Erie County.

THURSDAY

Basketball: Men's eight-week, weekly program for ages 30 and up, as well as women's eight-week, weekly program for ages 16 and up, both start 7 to 9 p.m., Clearfield Community Center, 730 Hopkins Road, Amherst. “Walking to Wellness” mall walk: 8:30 a.m., Boulevard Mall, 730 Alberta Drive, Amherst. Includes a mini-wellness fair and prize drawing. Free.

Chairman’s Book Club: Noon, Central Library Ring of Knowledge, 1 Lafayette Square. Karen King, executive director of the Erie County Commission on the Status of Women, will talk about the book, “All the Single Ladies: Unmarried women and the rise of an independent nation,” by Rebecca Traiser, with a panel discussion to follow. Free.
