NIAGARA FALLS - A West Seneca man walking across the Rainbow Bridge Saturday morning found a loaded .38-caliber handgun and turned it in to authorities at U.S. Customs.
City police reported that the incident occurred about 10 a.m. as the man crossed the bridge back into the United States. The gun was loaded with four live rounds of ammunition and also contained two spent rounds, police said. Customs officials said that they were able to confirm the man’s report by reviewing video surveillance footage from the bridge.
However, authorities said they are unsure who abandoned the gun and when it occurred. A police check showed that the gun had not been reported stolen. An investigation us underway.
