A Niagara Falls man attempted to eat drugs in his possession after he was stopped by Erie County Sheriff's deputies Thursday while driving on Whitehaven Road on Grand Island, the Sheriff's Department reported.
Aramis Fournier, 34, was operating a vehicle while driver's license is suspended and he also had an active warrant, deputies said.
Following his arrest, deputies searched Fournier's vehicle and found a controlled substance called alza, a stimulant. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation and an equipment violation.
While in custody, deputies said they observed Fournier attempt to dispose and partially ingest a white paste, which an initial test indicated was an opiate derivative.
Fournier was additionally charged with tampering with evidence and a second criminal possession of a controlled substance misdemeanor.
He was held at the Erie County Holding Center on $500 bail.
