Former youth mentor sentenced on child porn charges

A former youth pastor was sentenced to weekends in jail for four months and will be required to register as a sex offender after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.

Scott D. Stockton, 45, now of Lackawanna, was sentenced by Erie County  Judge Thomas P. Franczyk Friday. The judge also ordered Stockton to 10 years probation.

Stockton pleaded guilty to three charges of distribution and possession of images of children engaged in sex acts with adults. One of the victims was 4 years old.

Stockton was arrested in March 2016 as a result of a raid led by Detective William Fleming of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department. Stockton was found to have more than 300 items showing sexual performances by children.

Prior to his arrest, Stockton did pastoral work and youth mentoring through schools and churches. He also had a self-improvement business called You. Only Better.
