City comptroller auditing BMHA health insurance

Remember back in 2010, when a city comptroller audit found Buffalo had paid health insurance premiums for over 150 dead people?

That's the kind of audit the city comptroller's office is just getting started at the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority.

A letter recently went out from from the city auditor asking the BMHA for all kinds of documentation on who is getting health insurance through the BMHA, and how the BMHA verifies eligiblity.

"We want to make sure they are paying premiums for people who are eligible," said Pat Curry, a top aide to City Comptroller Mark Schroeder. "People who are alive and eligible."

On Hertel  Ave

I  drove down Hertel this morning and noticed ongoing work at the former CVS site becoming a Lexington Co-op satellite we hear is opening this summer.

On Jefferson Ave

With the Brown Administration focusing on redeveloping Jefferson Avenue, I'm going to start noting anything I find out planned for that street.

There's a used car dealership license for 1193 Jefferson the Common Council will be considering next week.

On Elmwood Ave

Big meeting last night on the Reverie project Ciminelli Real Estate is planning for Elmwood. Still lots of opposition.
