A Buffalo man was fatally shot early Wednesday morning in front of his home on Pershing Avenue, near Best Street.
Police said the shooting took place just before 4 a.m.
Police identified the victim as a 39-year-old Buffalo man. He was declared dead at the scene. Relatives gathered outside of the house said his name was James Smith but declined to talk to a reporter.
Late Wednesday morning, uniformed police officers were stationed at the entrance of the house and two black and white police SUVs were parked in front of the house.

The death marks the 13th homicide victim to die this year. Among the dead was Charles E. Ridgeway Jr., 28, who was shot in November and taken off life support Feb. 11.
