How to face conflict and what the life of a peacemaker may cost will be examined March 11 at a Hamburg convent during a day of reflection on the life of St. Francis of Assisi, who faced the call to take up a crusader's cross and entered the camp of a sultan, reaching out to Islam.
The Rev. John Petrikovic, a Capuchin Franciscan friar priest, will look at the conflicts the saint faced in war and violence, his family's expectations and the struggle for new centers of political power. The day of reflection will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Convent, 5229 South Park Ave. Mass will take place in the chapel at 4 p.m.
Reservations should be made by March 8 by calling 649-1205 , and attendees are asked to bring their own lunch. Refreshments and dessert will be provided.
