Art of Beer returns
The 11th annual Art of Beer tasting event and fundraiser will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. March 3 at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center (1201 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls). The event includes tastings from many area craft breweries, as well as cider and food samples. The event is a fundraiser for the NACC, which was founded in 2001 and hosts more than 70 resident artists, dance, voice and music schools, two theaters and a recording studio.
Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 day-of event and can be purchased at NACC, Niagara Tradition Homebrewing Supply and online at thenacc.org.Call 285-7530.

'Fab Five' from Great Lakes
Pizza Plant Canalside (125 Main St.) will hold the latest installment of its “Fab Five” series, where the pub features five stellar beers from a single brewery. The event starts at noon March 4, and will feature beers from Great Lakes Brewing Company from Cleveland, Ohio.
The five beers will be Barrel-Aged Blackout Stout, Burning River IPA, Chillwave DIPA (double IPA), Dark Stone Waters (Belgian stout, collaboration with Stoneyard Brewing) and Conway's Irish Ale. Call 626-5566.
Stout tasting at Goodbar
Mister Goodbar (1110 Elmwood Ave.) is holding its annual stout tasting at 7:30 p.m. March 8 as part of the monthly Good Beer Club series. The event will feature many different stouts including Westbrook 6th Anniversary stout, Perennial Sump coffee stout and Evil Twin Imperial Mexican Biscotti Cake Break.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the bar in advance, which is encouraged as the event is likely to sell out. Call 882-4000.
42 North releases new homebrew
42 North Brewing Company (25 Pine St., East Aurora) is releasing a new beer from 6 to 9 p.m. March 3. The beer, called Grain Against the Machine, is a 6.8 percent ABV American amber ale. It was brewed in collaboration with Collin Corcoran, the winner of the American Amber & Brown Ale category in the 2016 AWOG (Amber Waves of Grain) homebrew competition.
The gold medal-winning beer recipe was scaled up from homebrew size to a larger batch brewed on the brewery’s pilot system. Call 805-7500.
New employee test batch at CBW
On March 5, Community Beer Works (15 Lafayette Ave.) is releasing the latest in its employee test batch series. The beer will be a double IPA (India pale ale), brewed by Sawtun, a Burmese refugee who lives in the same neighborhood as the brewery, and one of the brewery’s employees. Call 759-4677.
Thin Man Pilsner benefits Roswell Park
Thin Man Brewery (492 Elmwood Ave.) is debuting a Pilsner style beer on March 3. Dubbed “11 Day Powerplay Pils,” the 5.1 percent ABV beer is brewed in collaboration with 11 Day Powerplay, an organization seeking to raise $1 million for Roswell Park Cancer Institute this spring.
One dollar from each pint sold of this beer will go toward the cause. The brewery is also reaching out to any local bar owners who may wish to participate in the fundraiser by tapping a keg of the beer at their establishment. Call 923-4100.
