Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk is in the final stages of a search for a new location after its board and relocation specialists Clark Patterson Lee Engineers, Stroudwater Associates and Turner Associates reviewed 24 sites, officials said.
A hospital board subcommittee narrowed the list to six potential sites, and the next step will be to reduce the list to two finalists and begin negotiations with the property owners.
The goal is to identify a preferred site in the next four to six weeks.
Kaleida Health intends to affiliate with Brooks Memorial and TLC Health Network and form a system, with the Dunkirk campus delivering inpatient hospital services and the Irving campus offering specialty inpatient and complementary outpatient services.
Both campuses would have emergency rooms. The affiliates received a joint $57 million grant through the state to build a new hospital.
They seek a site with solid infrastructure, access to patients, staff, visitors and emergency services, and which can pass local, state and federal regulatory needs, officials said in a statement.
