With Olean and Amherst boys and girls basketball teams both reaching the Section VI Class A-2 semifinals, fans of those teams won't have to make the tough decision as to which team they want to see Tuesday night.
That's because the Olean-Amherst boys semifinal will be played at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday as not to conflict with the Olean and Amherst girls playing semifinal games Tuesday night at Sweet Home.
That means, second-seeded Cheektowaga and third-seeded South Park will play Tuesday night in the other A-2 boys semifinals at 8:15 to cap a tripleheader that features Class A-1 teams.
So those wanting to see if Cheektowaga's Dominick Welch score the 25 points he needs to break the Western New York career scoring record of 2,355 currently held by Ritchie Campbell -- you don't have to wait the extra day.
Typically, during years in which a respective classification's semifinals are split over two days, the highest remaining seed opts to play the first game because the reward for the winner is an extra day of preparation for the championship game.
