Niagara hockey drops 12th in a row

Niagara finished its home hockey schedule for the season with a 6-2 loss to Robert Morris Saturday night at Dwyer Arena. It was the 12th straight loss for the Purple Eagles (3-27-3, 3-22-2 Atlantic Hockey) who have not won since a 3-1 win over Bentley on Jan. 14.

Robert Morris (18-11-4, 14-10-2 AH) scored first on a goal by Tommy Moore at 8:00 of the first period. Niagara tied it at 11:30 when Stanislav Dzakhov tallied on the power play with assists from Niko Kovachis and Stephen Pietrobon. However, the Colonials regained the lead when Brady Ferguson tallied with just 5 seconds left in the opening period.

Power-play goals by Alex Tonge and Daniel Leavens made it 4-1 before Niagara tallied again. Derek Brown got the goal with Sean King assisting. RMU added goals by Eric Israel and Ben Robillard in the third period. Israel's goal came on the power play.

The teams will finish their two games series at 7:05  tonight, outdoors at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
