Two women were victims in separate sexual assaults that occurred between Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, according to Buffalo police on Friday.
The victims included a teenager and a woman in her 30s, according to police.
The first assault happened at around 8 p.m. Tuesday in the vicinity of the 300 block of Curtiss Street, when a teenage girl was walking home, Buffalo police said. She told police that a man approached her and sexually assaulted her, police said.
The second incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, when a woman in her mid-30s was attacked in the 900 block of Broadway, according to Buffalo police.
In both cases, it appeared the suspect was armed with a knife, police said.
An investigation was underway to determine if the two incidents are connected, police said.
Residents in the area were urged by police to use caution and to report any suspicious activity they observe.
Detectives were also investigating a sexual assault that occurred earlier in the month in the 100 block of Kilhoffer Avenue.
