Buffalo State women's hockey earns first playoff win

The Buffalo State women's hockey team recorded its first playoff victory in program history, beating sixth-seeded Potsdam, 4-0, in an ECAC West quarterfinal.

Natasha Steinle scored three times for the third-seeded Bengals, while goalie Justine Silva made 22 saves for the shutout. Erin Gehen (West Seneca West) had an assist. Buffalo State (17-7-1) faces second-seeded Elmira at 3 p.m. Sunday in Elmira in the semifinals.

This is the first time since the conference expanded to 10 teams that the Bengals have reach the semifinal round.
