Letter: Photographers need to respect wildlife

Photographers need to respect wildlife

I started photographing at Tifft Farm last fall and continue to do so. I have witnessed firsthand photographers chasing barred owls and red tailed hawks all over the refuge. They will actually run after the birds after they fly off. They either don’t realize that they are stressing the birds or have no respect for the animals they are photographing. I have made comments to some of the photographers to no avail. Getting the photo is all that matters.

Since the owl at Forest Lawn was underweight, it seems possible that it was wasting a lot of energy trying to get away from people. Great horned owls should be sitting on eggs at this time of the year.
